MANATEE — A 52-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were seriously injured when they were struck by a hit-and-run driver while trying to walk across U.S. 41 early this morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
They were struck just after midnight while trying to cross at the 5400 block of U.S. 41, according to a report.
They were crossing from west to east when they were struck by the northbound vehicle. Investigators said the victims were thrown about 70 feet, and there were no skid marks at the scene.
Troopers said they were looking for a white Toyota vehicle with front end damage and possibly a broken windshield.
