Suspects crash car fleeing robbery at S.R. 64 Wal-Mart

MANATEE — Two men speeding off in a car after attempting to steal two computers from Wal-Mart store crashed the vehicle and fled on foot, setting off a chase this afternoon, according to Manatee County Sheriff’s Office officials.

At about 12:43 p.m., Dominique Fazzolari, 27, and his brother Mike Fazzolari, 25, attempted to steal two computers from the Wal-Mart at 6225 State Road 64 E., according to the sheriff's office.

When they were confronted by store security, the dropped the computers and fled to a waiting car. As authorities gave chase, the pair crashed the vehicle on an access road near the store, according to the sheriff's office. The Ford Crown Victoria spun around and two men fled the vehicle on foot, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies searched for the men with a helicopter and K-9 dogs before a short time later arresting the Fazzolaris on Morgan Johnson Road, about a half-mile from the store.

The Fazzolaris are each charged with grand theft and resisting a merchant.

The crash closed part of the access road into Wal-Mart as a sheriff’s crime scene technician dusted the trunk of the Ford Crown Victoria for prints.

The Florida Highway Patrol assisted the sheriff’s office in directing traffic around the car.
