MANATEE — A Manatee County Sheriff’s Office police dog bit a man’s ear who hid from deputies after punching a woman in a fast food restaurant, according to a sheriff’s report.
Deputies arrested Mark R. Jean, 41, just after 11 p.m., Sunday. A K-9 dog found him hiding in woods after he ran from a McDonald’s in the 6100 block of U.S. 301, in Ellenton.
Jean ran from the restaurant after witnesses say he punched a 57-year-old woman four times, including twice in the head. The woman had a domestic violence injunction against Jean, according to the sheriff’s report.
As deputies searched for Jean, a K-9 found him hiding and bit him on the right ear lobe. Deputies arrested Jean on charges of violation of a domestic violence injunction and battery.
Emergency personnel took Jean to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment of his wound, before deputies took him to the Manatee County jail, where he was being held without bond.
