Bandit robs CVS pharmacy of Oxycontin

MANATEE — Authorities were searching for a man who jumped a counter and robbed a pharmacist of Oxycontin this afternoon, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

The man, who appeared to be 27 to 28 years old, walked into the CVS Pharmacy in the 3700 block of 84th Avenue Circle East, near the intersection of University Parkway and Tuttle Avenue, about 3 p.m. and kept his hand in his pocket, implying he a weapon, according to the sheriff’s office.

The man fled with an undisclosed amount of pills.

The suspect was described as standing about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and eighing about 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, dark shorts and dark blue baseball cap with a Nike symbol on the front as well as dark colored gloves.

Authorities plan to release a video of the robbery from the surveillance camera when footage becomes available.
