MANATEE — A Bradenton woman apparently lost $935 when she left it in an envelope on the counter at a cell phone company.
The woman, 80, went to a cell phone retail outlet to conduct some business and left behind money in an envelope, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.
The victim left and realized 15 minutes later that she forgot the envelope. When she returned to the store, employees said they didn’t see anything, the report states.
American Legion hit by thieves
MANATEE — The American Legion at 1610 67th Ave. E. was burglarized Saturday by someone wearing a ski mask and gloves whose image was captured on security monitoring video.
When a cleaner for the facility went to the site at 5 a.m., she noticed the speaker hanging by a cord at the front door.
After going home and telling her boyfriend what she saw, they decided to return to the business and investigate further. They eventually called 911.
An unknown person wearing a ski mask and gloves was caught on surveillance tape, climbing a ladder near the front door. The unknown person got in through the rear of the building and took some undisclosed property, the report states.
Country Creek home burglarized
EAST MANATEE — Manatee County Sheriff’s deputies think one or more juveniles stole $380 from a wallet along with an iPhone from inside a Country Creek residence.
The juveniles were visiting the victim’s daughter.
The items were returned by one suspect but he claims he retrieved the items from his friend, who was also at the residence, the report said.
