MANATEE — A Bradenton couple reported being robbed at gunpoint in their home this afternoon, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.
The man, 20, and woman, 19, told deputies they awoke at about 12:15 p.m. to find two gunmen in their home, in the 6400 block of Third Avenue Northeast.
They told investigators the men demanded money from the man’s wallet and from a safe in a bedroom.
Sheriff’s spokesman Dave Bristow said the men took about $100 from the wallet, and $600 from the safe, before fleeing out a side door of the home.
Bristow said the home invasion robbery does not appear to be random.
“It looks like they knew what they were after,” he said.
Sheriff’s detectives believe the gunmen fled in a gold Honda four-door, possibly with the Florida tag I964JD. The men are described as in their 20s, both wearing shorts and T-shirts.
Anyone with information on the robbery can call the sheriff’s office at 747-3011, ext. 2557, or Crimestoppers at (866) 634-TIPS.
