MANATEE — Local existing home and condominium sales rose last month, according to sales figures released today.
Sales of existing single-family homes in the Bradenton-Sarasota area rose 30 percent in July from the same month a year ago, the Florida Association of Realtors reported.
Local Realtors sold 855 single-family homes last month, compared to 657 in July 2008. The median sales price — the point where half sold for more and half for less — was $179,500, down 22 percent from a year ago.
Statewide, existing-homes sales rose 37 percent, the 11th straight month of gains, the trade group said.
Local condo sales rose by 14 percent, from 199 in July 2008 to 227 last month. The median price was $174,400, or 23 percent less than the $227,200 figures posted in July 2008.
Nationally, sales of single-family homes were up 7.2 percent, the highest since August 2007. Median sales price nationally dropped by 15 percent.
