MIAMI DADE COLLEGE

In addition to courses, Miami Dade College offers a number of resources for small business, including:Southeast Small Business Transportation Resource Center: Helps small businesses compete for, manage and obtain USDOT contracts. Contact: Adrianna Clark, director, 1-866-928-6289 ext. 8.

Wolfson Campus Small Business Education Program (sponsored by Citi Foundation): Provides small business owners with training through seminars, workshops, expos and networking opportunities. Contact: Pierre Carrasquilla, 305-237-3498.

‚Minority Export Training Program: A no-cost-to-participants initiative of the U.S. Department of Agriculture that trains firms to export their agricultural products. Contact: Steve Colyer, director, 305-237-7490.

Center for Service Excellence: Working closely with business and training partners, chambers of commerce and economic development organizations, the center provides consultation, needs assessment and develops customized customer service training programs for corporate clients as well as for public courses. BROWARD COLLEGE

In addition to the entrepreneurship certificate program and dozens of other business degree programs, Broward College also offers entrepreneurs a number of nondegree courses at modest costs through its continuing education program. Some courses include:

Business Plan Writing; Small Business Development; Marketing: Plan for Success; Introduction to Quickbooks; Fundamentals of MS Excel; Creating Websites; Speak for Success; English Writing for Business I and II; Customer Service Excellence; Effective Business Writing; and E-Networking for Success.
