MANATEE — A 22-year-old man was arrested by deputies after he allegedly beat his brother in the head with an aluminum baseball bat Friday afternoon, according to Manatee County sheriff’s office.
LeRoy Brydson Jr., was arrested on charges of domestic aggravated battery after his brother, 33-year-old Raymond Maurice Thomas was flown to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, said Lt. Dale Couch.
An argument ensued just before 6 p.m. between the brothers in Southern Aire Mobile Home Park, near the 5600 block of 14th Street West. The argument was about Brydson allegedly selling drugs.
Thomas did not want Brydson selling drugs on the property, Couch said. The fight escalated when Thomas reportedly picked up a piece of wood, possibly the leg to a table, and threatened Brydson. Brydson was hit across the face by Thomas’ hand, Couch said.
Brydson went to the back of a pickup and retrieved a baseball bat. He struck Thomas across the head twice. When Thomas fell to the ground, he struck him a third time across the back, Couch said.
As of Friday night, Thomas was undergoing tests and was alert enough to speak with other family members, Couch said.
