SARASOTA — the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred around 6:45 p.m. Monday outside a residence in the 2500 block of 24th St., Sarasota.
Deputies arrived on scene to find Clyde Newell, 21, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to Bayfront Medical Center but died from his injuries.
Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Turrell Lamar Allen, 27, in connection with the incident. He is described as 310 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Witnesses say they observed Allen shoot the victim during an argument. Allen was last seen running from the crime scene armed with an unknown caliber handgun, according to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Allen's last known address was on Blue Runner Court in Lakewood Ranch, according to the sheriff's office.
