MANATEE - Three people were arrested after deputies executing a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of 59th Avenue East found various drugs and a sawed-off double-barrel shotgun, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. A 1 1/2-year-old child also in the house was placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.
Deputies originally went to the house about 7 p.m. Sunday to look for a gun allegedly used by Ennis Lane, 36, in an aggravated assault earlier this month. During the search, Lane, Jimmy McNear, 32, and Amber Byard, 22, were arrested on warrants charging them with sale of narcotics, according to a news release.
Deputies also found the shotgun, numerous items of drug paraphernalia, six Oxycodone pills, several small pieces of rock cocaine and 169 assorted pills of penicillin, antibiotics and pain medications. The pills were found in plastic bags and not their prescription bottles as required by law, according to the sheriff's office.
Eight small bags of power cocaine were found on a dresser in McNear and Byard's bedroom and within easy reach of their baby's crib, the sheriff's said.
Additional charges against Lane, McNear and Byard are pending.
The sheriff's office said Lane is an eight-time convicted felon with past arrest for robbery, battery on a law enforcement officer and sale of cocaine.
