MANATEE — A woman told authorities a man raped her in her bedroom while her 3-year-old son slept a few feet away, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.
Detectives arrested David Hernandez-Delgado, 27, on a charge of sexual battery Saturday after the victim said that June 8, he came into her room and raped her.
The victim told detectives she rents a room in a Bradenton home, and Hernandez-Delgado rents space in a living room of the same home. She said just after midnight, Hernandez-Delgado came into her room while her husband was gone.
She said she told Hernandez-Delgado no several times “but didn’t put up too much of a fight,” because her son was sleeping in the room, the sheriff’s report said.

The victim went to the hospital for medical treatment after calling authorities and Hernandez-Delgado left the home, the sheriff’s report said. Deputies searched for him with a K-9 dog, but he was not captured until Saturday at a home in the 5600 block of Fifth Street West.
In addition to the sexual battery charge, deputies arrested Hernandez-Delgado on a probation violation for a petty theft conviction. He was being held in the Manatee County jail on $100,200 bond.
