MANATEE — Local Realtors sold fewer homes last month than they did in the same month a year ago, according to figures released today.
They sold 646 existing single-family homes in April, 12 percent fewer than the 733 sold in April 2008, the Florida Association of Realtors said.
The Sarasota-Bradenton market was among five Florida metropolitan areas to post a decline while 14 others saw sales gains that resulted in an 18 percent rise in sales statewide.
The local median sales price — the point were half of homes sold for less, half for more — also fared worse than the state as a whole. It slid 39 percent to $164,300 last month, while statewide it has fallen 31 percent in the past year to $138,500, the association said.
