Gunman robs East Manatee bank

MANATEE - An armed and masked man robbed an East Manatee bank this morning, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The man, who was armed with a handgun, entered the bank First Bank branch in the 3000 block of 53rd Avenue East about 10:55 a.m. and demanded money. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

The suspect was described as being possibly in his 50s, standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 225-250 pounds. He has gray hair with a day-old beard. He was wearing blue overalls, a light-colored baseball cap and a light blue bandana partially covering his face.
