MANATEE — Three Harllee Middle School students exploded a small bomb in the school courtyard Friday, damaging a bench. No one was around the explosion, and no one was hurt, the sheriff’s office said.
The three 14-year-old eighth graders were arrested and charged with making, possessing or throwing a destructive device, according to a news release.
Harllee is located at 6423 Ninth Street E., Bradenton.
“The device exploded...and caused minor damage to a bench. There were no students near the device when it went off,” the news release states.
No further details were immediately available.
