BRADENTON — A 61-year-old man was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg late Thursday after he was shot once in the chest, according to Bradenton Police Department.
The man was sitting outside his residence in the 800 block of 12th Street East when he was robbed of his wallet by two men at 9:42 p.m.
Police this morning said he was expected to survive his injuries.
One of the robbers was wearing a mask, according to police. The assailants separated after the robbery, with one fleeing northwest and the other driving south on 12th Street East in what appeared to be a white Saturn.

Police said there were no signs that the robbers entered the man’s apartment.
Authorities responded by setting up a perimeter and using a helicopter and police dogs to search for one of the suspects. Police called off the search with no results at about 11 p.m.
