Authorities searching for bank robber

MANATEE — The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a well-dressed bank robber who hit a University Parkway bank this afternoon.

Sheriff’s reports say the man, shown in surveillance video in a suit and tie, robbed the Orion Bank branch at 2815 University Parkway, just after noon today.

The man placed a nylon briefcase on a teller counter and demanded money. A teller put money in his bag and he walked out of the bank. No weapon was shown.

Later this afternoon, officials said the suspect was seen getting into a dark colored SUV with tinted windows that was parked in the Publix parking lot next to the bank

Witnesses described the man as between 40 and 50 years old, and standing 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds, with black hair and black beard. Anyone with information on the bank robbery can call the sheriff’s office at (941) 747-3011 or Crimestoppers at (866) 634-TIPS.
