MANATEE — A 44-year-old Bradenton woman has been arrested on charges she stole credit card information to pay for breast-augmentation surgery at Manatee Surgical Center.
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that Julianne Marie Johnson, who sometimes used the last names of LaChance and Ramirez, also had passed hot checks.
In all, the woman, who a victim said lived in the 600 block of 47th Street West, Bradenton, is accused stealing an acquaintance’s credit-card information to fraudulently pay $5,665.73 to Manatee Surgical Center, MSC Anesthesia Inc., Florida Coastal Plastic Surgery, and a Palm Beach Gardens resort.
A sheriff’s report said Johnson defrauded another Manatee man of $20,000 in a deal to purchase cars for her proposed business, operating the River Club restaurant. As that business deal was in the works, Johnson allegedly told the parties she had deposits in two Manatee banks of $1.75 million.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Robin Hamlin of Florida Coastal Plastic Surgery at Manatee Surgical Center on Manatee Avenue on Dec. 19.
Hamlin told authorities that initially Johnson paid for the medical procedures with a $5,445 check from Texas that was returned by the bank due to a closed account, the sheriff’s report said.
In January, Johnson allegedly used the credit card of the acquaintance — a man who the sheriff’s office now lists as a victim — to pay for a hotel room in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
While Johnson was there, a victim discovered his credit card information had been used to pay for the surgery without his knowledge, and he filed a criminal complaint.
Finding out that $100 worth of flowers and champagne had just been delivered to the room at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens using a legitimate credit card belonging to the friend, and that the room was now occupied, “Palm Beach Gardens detectives responded to the resort and arrested Johnson, during a spa treatment and massage,” the sheriff’s report said.
The charges against Johnson include grand theft, uttering worthless checks, and fraudulent use of a credit card. She is being held in Manatee County Jail on $105,000 bond.
