BRADENTON — Authorities are investigating a Sunday afternoon hold-up at a local nutrition store.
The armed robbery took place just before 4 p.m. at a GNC store in the 7300 block of Cortez Road, said Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Dale Couch.
A man, wearing a green hat, blue sunglasses, a green long-sleeve shirt and brown shorts entered the store and approached a clerk, pointed a black handgun and demanded money, Couch said. The clerk reportedly gave the robber an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect ran out of the store.
No injuries were reported, Couch said.

Man robbed while sleeping in car
MANATEE — A man said he was robbed as he slept inside a car Sunday morning.
According to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report, the 52-year-old victim said an unknown man gave him permission to sleep in his car while it was parked at a residence in the 2900 block of 127th Place East in Parrish.
At about 9 a.m., the suspect woke the victim up and demanded money, reports state. The victim said the suspect said he had a gun, but did not show it.
The suspect then allegedly grabbed a shovel from the car’s trunk and struck the victim, who then ran away, reports state.
