Check out our new look

Welcome to the new, which got its new look this week.

This redesign is meant to organize our information in a clean, intuitive and modern way that takes advantage of our strengths as the leading source for breaking news and information in Manatee County, shows our new multimedia capabilities and showcases contributions from users in our community.

Your hometown, your homepage.

A new commenting system will allow users to personalize by creating their own personas. Users can upload an image or icon that describes them, add personal details to their profile page and create their very own blog. The comment area itself which resides at the bottom of each story will show a user’s persona icon and other readers can click through to learn more about the user commenting and see other comments they’ve made throughout the site. A new forum area sets the stage for community members to take a hot topic to a group area for more in-depth discussion, bring up issues that haven’t been mentioned in the paper and will provide an area for story ideas, rants and raves. Other additions include user-friendly photo galleries; type size tools; real estate and employment sections that offer not only the latest jobs and homes for sale, but the latest news on the local employment and real estate market; and a jam-packed area events calendar and restaurant guide. Please comment on this story with any feedback or questions you have on the new look and features of the site.
