Weekend

NFL stars, celebrities descend upon Tampa

Super Bowl XLIII means super parties that will descend on the Tampa Bay area along with the big game itself.

This will be the fourth time the area will get to experience the big game and all the glory that comes with it.

This weekend, you’ll have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of your favorite NFL stars and Hollywood celebrities at a variety of football-flavored musical events. And if you’re not into all the fanfare, there’s plenty of good ol’ fashion football fun for the whole family at the NFL Experience.

To find out about these smashing Super Bowl-related activities, read on.

TODAY

The NFL Experience

Pro Football’s answer to theme parks. The event is an interactive fan festival, featuring more than 50 interactive games and attractions that span nearly 850,000 square feet of space. Test your athleticism to see if you have what it takes to be a pro, then experience resistance training and other challenges. There’s also football-related games for ages 3-10 in the Kids’ Zone.

Collectors will love to peruse the Donruss Super Bowl XLIII Card Show. There, they will find an assortment of rare collectibles on display and get autographs from dozens of current and former NFL stars who will be on hand.

Fans can also stroll through the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Throwbacks Exhibit that showcases photos, artifacts and one-of-a-kind gems. Don’t forget to stop by the Super Bowl Store on the way out.

Die-hard NFL fans will get a chance to own a piece of football history at a live auction at 1 p.m. Saturday. Items on the auction block include Super Bowl programs from 1967 to 2008, a professional model jersey from Jim Brown of the Cleveland Browns and Tony Dorsett’s signed 1976 Pitt Panthers game model jersey.

Proceeds from tickets sales will benefit two NFL Youth Education Towns of Tampa Bay — Mort Park and Jackson Heights. Youth Education Towns were created to help at-risk youth academically and physically while providing job-related skills.
