Holmes Beach Art District art walk
Downtown Holmes Beach continues its annual series of ArtWalks from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 9 and the second Friday of the month. Participating art galleries and retail businesses include Waterline Marina Resort & Beach Club, Restless Natives, Artists’ Guild of Anna Maria Island, The Anna Maria Island Art League, Island Gallery West, and SteamDesigns. These locations will feature special exhibits, free refreshments, music and fun for all those who enjoy strolling and shopping in downtown Holmes Beach.
Cigar Box Festival
The Bradenton Cigar Box Guitar Festival, where blues musicians play music on cigar boxes, will take place in the Village of the Arts 6 p.m.-midnight Feb. 9 and 1-4 p.m. Feb. 10. The City will close the portion of 10th Avenue West that extends from 12th Street West to the northwest corner of Motorworks Brewery to allow for alcohol sales. Scheduled to attend are nationally-known cigar box makers and musicians. The Anna Maria Island Privateers will be hosting their Thieves Market 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 10 at Coquina Beach’s South Entrance area. The event will feature local vendors offering housewares, tools, jewelry, antiques and collectibles, fresh produce, toys, and much more for sale. The Privateers’ famous pirate ship “Skullywag” will be on-site during the market. The event is free and open to the public. Information: www.amiprivateers.org.
Bay Area Renaissance Festival
Journey back in time as more than 100 merchants contribute to the atmosphere of this charming 16th century village. Experience live armored jousting, 12 stages of entertainment, seven theme weekends, and fun and food for the whole family. There are public polo matches every Sunday through April 5 at the Sarasota Polo Club, 8201 Polo Club Lane, Lakewood Ranch. Gates open at 10 a.m. and the match is at 1 p.m. There are also matches at 3 p.m. on the last Friday of the month. Admission is $12 per person. Children age 12 and younger admitted free.
