Concerts near the water are pretty common in the Bradenton-Sarasota area. But Rock the Docks is as close to the water as a concert is likely to ever get.
The concert at Marina Jack's in Sarasota (billed as the "first ever," which implies that others will follow) actually takes place on a floating stage. You can reach the venue by car or boat, and you can watch from land or water.
Even better than the location is the ticket price. Rock the Docks is a free concert.
And the acts are pretty impressive, given all that.

The headliner is Meghan Linsey, a country singer-songwriter who was the runner-up on season eight of "The Voice." She had previously been part of the duo Steel Magnolia, who had a 2009 country hit with "Keep on Lovin' You."
The opening act is Bradenton's own country band, Rebel Heart. They'll be performing with local singer Sarah Faye, who will be joining the band for most of its shows this year, a band spokesmen said. (As of Wednesday, the event website said that the Rebel Heart band that will play Rock the Docks is from Arizona.
The local Rebel Heart confirmed that the information on the website is incorrect.) The Suncoast Saltwater Shootout fishing tournament is earlier that same day.
The Rock the Docks floating stage will be built adjacent to the tournament weigh station, in front of the Blue Sunshine Patio deck. The tournament weigh-in will begin around 2 p.m. on Saturday. The show will take place promptly after the weigh-in has been completed. That should be about 5:30 p.m.
