In a lot of the country, it's just getting to be the time of year for outdoor festivals and street parties. In Florida, it's getting to be the time of year to stay in the air conditioning as much as we can.
But before we move indoors for a few months, there's time for one more outdoor bash.
Main Street Live, the popular monthly street party in downtown Bradenton, end its spring 2015 run tonight.
Its going out with a bang, though, with live music provided by one of Bradenton's most popular bands. Rebel Heart -- a trio that plays a mix of blues-rock, pop and country -- will perform.
The music and the party are all free, and the street will be lined with food trucks. Lots of local merchants will be setting up shop along the street for the evening, and all the businesses -- including the bars, pubs and restaurants -- along Old Main Street will be open for business as usual. So you can get some shopping done while you're chowing down, enjoying a libation and listening to a great local band.
Details: 4 p.m.-midnight May 21, Old Main Street between Manatee Avenue and Third Avenue West, Bradenton. Admission: Free. Information: 941-896-8860, facebook.com/OldMainStreetMerchantsAssociation.
