Blues supergroup comes to Bradenton

If you're a blues fan, you'd probably be thrilled for a chance to see Anson Funderburgh, Little Charlie Baty or Mark Hummel in a Bradenton club, and you'd probably think $20 was a pretty decent ticket price.

This weekend you can see all of them together at Aces Live Music, and it's still just $20.

Funderburgh, Baty and Hummel have joined forces in a project called the Lone Star-Golden State Revue, which brings together some great bluesmen from Texas and California.

They'll be at Aces on Monday.

Funderburgh's best known as the leader of Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets. They've been playing fiery Texas blues since 1978.

Baty headed Little Charlie & the Nightcats for more than 30 years. He retired from the band in 2008. Band member Rick Estrin took over frontman duties, and the re-named Rick Estrin & the Nightcats burned up the Bradenton Blues festival in 2014.

Hummel's a harmonica player and producer who last year won two Blues Music Awards (for Best Album and best Traditional Blues Album) for "Remembering Little Walter," which he produced and played on.

Bassist R.W. Grigsby and drummer Wes Starr (from Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets) round out the lineup.

Details: 8 p.m. May 11, Aces Live Music, 4343 Palma Sola Blvd., Bradenton. Tickets: $20 advance, $25 at the door. Information: 941-795-3886, aceslivemusic.com.
