It's a great combination: Good live music, cold craft beer and free admission. And to make it even better, it's right on Bradenton Riverwalk.
Realize Bradenton's Music in the Park series kicks off this weekend. It keeps going through May, with a free concert in the Mosaic Amphitheatre on the fourth Friday of each month.
There's a different theme for each of the five concerts. This month it's singer-songwriter night, with local acts Lady & Gentleman at 6 p.m., Jen & Ray at 7 p.m. and Lesa Silvermore at 8 p.m.
The first two acts play 15-minute sets (Silvermore plays for an hour) and in between sets there's a spoken-word open mic. Cedric Kameed hosts, and poets are invited to read their prepared works or simply improvise.
Coming up in the months ahead are funk/reggae night in February, jazz night in March, blues night in April and folk/Americana night in May. The artists for those evenings haven't been announced yet.
Darwin Brewing Co. is supplying the beer and Peacecorn Popcorn is supplying the snacks. You'll have to pay for that stuff, even though music, the view and the cool evening air are all free.
Details: 6-9 p.m. Jan. 23, Feb.27, March 27, April 24 and May 22, Mosaic Amphitheatre at the Riverwalk, 452 Third Ave W., Bradenton. Tickets: Free. Information: 941-621-6471, realizebradenton.com.
