PALM-AIRE -- Members of the Palm-Aire Tennis Association collected socks and shoes for the homeless in Manatee County during a luncheon held recently at Palm-Aire Country Club.
Attendees enjoyed a lunch, followed by music from The Open Door Band, an outreach of the Community Coalition on Homelessness. All of the current members of the Open Door Band have at one time been homeless.
Proceeds from the performance benefited Community Coalition on Homelessness.
“We are grateful that the community has embraced the band and all that they stand for,” said Adell Erozer, executive director of the Community Coalition on Homelessness. “The sock drive is especially appreciated as there is a constant need for socks for our clients of all ages.” A bin for ongoing sock and shoe donations will be placed in the Tennis Pro Shop at Palm-Aire Country Club. Since 1995 the Community Coalition on Homelessness has been providing, facilitating and coordinating services to people in crisis in Manatee County.
