MANATEE -- Recently nine local youth represented Manatee County at the 4-H District Events Day in Dade City.
They earned the right to represent the county by placing first at county events on their public speeches or demonstrations.
Their presentations had titles such as The Legacy of Leadership, Recycling, Dairy Reproduction, Be Happy! Be Healthy! Rabbit Showmanship, Beef: From Head to Hoof, and Flemish: The Gentle Giant.
In addition to wowing the audience with their variety and depth of topics, two youths were also elected to District IX 4-H Council officer positions.
Elected were: Kaylee Betts, treasurer, and Dalton Burton, parliamentarian.
District IX covers 4-H programs in Manatee, Sarasota, Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, and Polk counties.
4-H is a community of youth people across America who are learning about citizenship, leadership and developing life skills. 4-H programs are open to all youth ages 8-18 without regard to race, color, sex, handicap or national origin.
