Manatee County Habitat for Humanity is pleased to announce that two new members joined the Board of Directors. Richard ‘Dick’ Amesbury and Jay Digma were the most recent additions to the Board when they signed on for four-year terms this month. Amesbury is a retired Business Manager with Exxon Mobil who also served as an Officer in the United States Navy (Reserve). His volunteer service has included Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Houston Texas and Sarasota as well as Manatee County. He brings not only construction experience but also a passion for helping families gain financial independence through home ownership. Digma is a Vice President and Branch Manager for Whitney Bank in Bradenton with 14 years of experience in banking (including six in his current role as Branch Manager). Active in a wide variety of community service, he has volunteered with numerous local organizations, including: Leadership Manatee, Project Light, Meals on Wheels PLUS, Palmetto Rotary, Literacy Council, United Way and American Red Cross. Having coordinated Whitney Bank volunteer teams on Habitat builds in the past, he is looking forward to building the organization in his new role as a Board member. Habitat Board President Jim Frame pointed out that “Habitat for Humanity is able to build all over the world because it is a grassroots organization. Its volunteers, financial support and leadership are all home-grown. These new Board members, with their commitment to this community and Habitat’s mission, represent growth for our local affiliate.” He also thanked outgoing Board members Mike Kennedy, Misty Servia, Kirsten Suss, John Neal and Mary Doughtery-Slapp for their service.
