Sidewalk Astronomy at Bishop Planetarium in December
The Local Group of Deep Sky Observers, a Bradenton/Sarasota group of astronomy enthusiasts, is pleased to announce their next Sidewalk Astronomy event.
On Saturday, December 11th starting at 5:45 p.m., and continuing until 10:00 p.m., the members of the Local Group will (WEATHER PERMITTING!) set up their high-quality telescopes for a public observing session in the north parking lot of the South Florida Museum and Bishop Planetarium. The facility is located at 201 10th Street West in downtown Bradenton, Florida.
The highlight objects of the evening will be the planet Jupiter and the first quarter Moon. Attendees can expect incredible close-up views of these and a variety of other celestial objects as they become visible throughout the night. As always, the Sidewalk Astronomy event is FREE and open to everyone.
Looking ahead, Sidewalk Astronomy will be held on January 8, 2011 at the Riverview High School Planetarium in Sarasota, February 12, 2011 AND March 12, 2011 at Lakewood Ranch Main Street.
