Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee announced that it has received a $10,000 grant from the Bank of America Foundation. The non-profit organization had applied for funding to address needs specifically with The Food Bank of Manatee, which is operated by Meals on Wheels PLUS along with nearly a dozen other programs for seniors and the hungry. The Food Bank has experienced record numbers of requests in recent years, which have contributed considerable wear and tear on the facility and equipment. Bank of America West Central Market President, Doug Sherman, and Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Christine Ruiz, reviewed the application and personally visited the Meals on Wheels PLUS and Food Bank of Manatee sites to get firsthand knowledge of the agency’s operations.
“At Bank of America, we believe our strength as a company is directly related to the strength of our communities,” said local President for Bank of America, Doug Sherman. “Through grants to organizations like Meals on Wheels PLUS, we are able to share our strength to help sustain critical charitable organizations during times of greatest need in our communities.”
“We were thrilled to receive this grant,” said President & CEO Ellen Campbell. “Large corporations often have a reputation of making money from a community, but Bank of America gives back to help build the community and we are truly grateful.”
