Valentine House Opens at Robinson Preserve

VALENTINE HOUSE GRAND OPENING– Come celebrate with Manatee County Natural Resources! The Valentine House, Robinson Preserve’s new visitor’s center, is ready to open. The public is invited for an open house and ribbon cutting plus lots of other great activities.

Explore the new Visitor’s Center, and then check out the marine life touch tank and displays by Pooches for the Planet and Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Inc. Wagon rides will be available on a first come, first serve basis for $3 for adults and $2 for children.

Refreshments will be provided on the lawn thanks to kind donations from Albertsons (Bradenton), Publix (SR 64 West), and Wal-Mart (Cortez West, Palmetto, SR 64 East). Event suitable for all ages.

The Grand Opening begins at 9:00AM and will continue through 1:00PM.

Saturday 8th, 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM – DOGS DAYS OF SPRING – Bring your four-legged friends to enjoy an afternoon walk through Robinson Preserve. Pups and their proud owners are invited to stroll through Robinson Preserve on a healthy hike. Socialized dogs on leashes are invited. Saturday 15th, 2:00 PM & 3:30 PM – NATURALIST-LED WAGON TOURS – Roll through Robinson Preserve in a covered wagon! Your naturalist tour guide will explain the preserve’s history, resident wildlife, fabulous flowers, and describe preserve highlights. Two 60-minute trips will be taken during the day. A fee of $3.00 per adult and $2.00 per child (includes tax) will be charged. Program suitable for all ages. Reservations are suggested. Seats will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Wednesday 19th, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM – SUNSET BIKE RIDE – Roll through Emerson Point Preserve on two wheels. Take an evening ride thorough this coastal preserve and enjoy sunset at the point. Friday 21st, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM – TALL TAILS TRIBE: THE WHEELS ON THE WAGON GO ROUND AND ROUND – Get ready for a grand adventure! We’re bringing the Tribe to Robinson for a special wagon ride through the marsh. Join our naturalists for a fun salt marsh safari filled with songs, stories, and lots of super sights. Wagon ride fee is $2 for children, $3 for adults. This special wagon tour is suitable for children age 5 and under and their accompanying adults. Reservations are required! Saturday 22nd, 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM – SEED SAVERS VOLUNTEER WORKDAY – Help prepare the preserve for new life. Learn how to collect native seeds from wildflowers and grasses and spread them to build new habitat. We will work to collect, and then spread, seeds throughout the preserve. Saturday 22nd, 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM – SNAKES ALIVE! SHUTTER STROLL – Join nature photographer Dotty and snake handler Melissa for a special opportunity to photograph live snakes. Multiple species will be available for use as subjects. Learn tips and tricks for shooting reptiles, moving creatures, and macro wildlife images and then stay for the educational program afterward. Learn about the preserve’s fishing policies, how to practice catch-and-release, and where to go for the best catches. Participants must bring their own fishing gear.
