Manatee Village Historical Park's Heritage Days Open House is taking place March 6th, 2010 from 12PM-4PM. The park is inviting the public to come experience Manatee County’s pioneer past through hands on activities, demonstrations, tours and much more. This year the event will feature entertainment by Meg Newsome - leading lady at Manatee Players, the Manatee County Cloggers, and The Dream Classics.
Palma Sola Appraisals & Sales will also be on site to conduct antiques appraisals for a donation of $5.00 per item; proceeds benefit the Manatee County Historical Commission, limit three items per person. They ask for no coins or jewelry please.
At the event try your hand at making butter, candle dipping, old fashioned laundry, making thaumatropes (Victorian optical toys), vintage toys and games, and quill pen calligraphy. Enjoy demonstrations by local historic and civic organizations, a blacksmith, broom maker, and the Florida Cracker Horse Association. Tasty food will also be available for purchase. This event is free, and there’s something for everyone, so bring the whole family for some fun!
