The annual Day of Caring event was held Thursday, October 15th, 2009. Employees from area companies participated in this worthwhile cause. Donating their time and skills, volunteers completed the one-day service project at United Way funded agencies across Manatee County.
Companies committed to making a difference on this day were: Publix, Manatee Technical Institute, Trilectron, Bealls, The Bradenton Herald, Manatee County Government employees, Blake Hospital, SunTrust Bank, and the United Way of Manatee County.
Some of the local agencies that benefited from the volunteer services were: the Salvation Army, Anna Maria Island Community Center, Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, and MARC.
The Day of Caring began with an 8:00am kickoff breakfast for volunteers at the United Way of Manatee County office, located at 1701 14th Street West. Companies received their assignments, along with some food for fuel to begin the day.
