ArtCenter Manatee presents the American Watercolor Society Traveling Exhibition January 15 - February 28, 2010

Opening Reception: January 15, 2010; 5-7pm ArtCenter Manatee is proud to be one of five venues nationally selected to present the 142nd Annual Traveling Exhibition in the Kellogg Gallery. The show will be on display from January 15 - February 28 2010. Bradenton is the only stop in the Southeast and offers visitors and locals alike the opportunity to celebrate some of the best watercolor paintings in the world. The American Watercolor Society is a nonprofit membership organization that began in 1866 to promote the art of watercolor painting in America. Each year the Society holds a juried exhibition of watercolors from artists throughout the world. The AWS Traveling Exhibition brings some of the biggest and most talented artists in water soluble media together into one show. The original juried exhibition, hung in March 2009 at the Salmagundi Club in NYC contained over 100 entries, 40 of which have been chosen for the traveling show with over half having won awards. As an accompaniment, the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society will present works by their members in the Searle and Reid Hodges Galleries. FSWS is comprised of artists from 7 gulf coast counties representing some of the best watercolor talent in the south. Admission to the exhibition and Opening Reception are free to ArtCenter Manatee members. Admission for the general public is $10 for the Opening Reception on 1/15. General Admission to the exhibition 1/16-2/26 is $5/individual, ACM has a special $10 VIP pass available for an individual (which offers admission to the Opening Reception and one additional visit to the exhibition. A $15 VIP familypass offers admission for one family to the exhibition. The AWS exhibition is free-of-charge to the public on February 27. Watercolor workshops will be hosted at ArtCenter Manatee to compliment the watercolor exhibition and will feature nationally known artists: Jean Grastorf, Teresa Kirk, Joe Fettingis and Donna Zagotta.
