hosted by Friends of the Island LibraryWednesday, January 27, 2010
The Friends of the Island Branch Library are pleased to welcome back perennial favorite guest lecturer James McCartney to the Library on Wednesday, January 27, 2010.
For this year's presentation, McCartney has chosen a hot-button topic: “American Disasters in the Middle East: Walking on Thin Ice.” Because of the popularity of Mr. McCartney's lectures, he will present his program twice: first at 2:00 p.m., and an encore presentation at 6:30 p.m.
James McCartney is a retired reporter and newspaper columnist who specialized in politics and national security issues during his 35-year newspaper career. He continues to offer his insightful political commentary in lectures such as this, as well as a regular column in The Bradenton Herald.
The program, which is part of the Alice Taylor Reed Lecture and Travel Series, is FREE and seating will be available on a first come, first serve basis. No prior registration is necessary.
Special programs such as this are made possible by funds generously provided by the Friends. The Friends are a support organization for Manatee County’s Island Branch Library. Monies raised by the Friends go toward programs and services that tax dollars alone cannot provide.
The Island Branch Library is located at 5701 Marina Drive in Holmes Beach, Florida. For more information, please call the library at 941.778.6341.
