Town hall meeting

A series of town hall meetings has been scheduled by the Manatee County School District to give parents, students, district employees and concerned citizens a chance to converse with district leaders about budget cuts to educational funding in Florida. So far this school year, funding for Manatee County’s Public Schools has been cut $30 million and it appears the district is in line for an additional $20 million cut for the 2009-10 school year. In East Manatee, town hall meetings are scheduled for 6 p.m. at Lakewood Ranch High School Auditorium, 5500 Lakewood Ranch Blvd.

Book workshop

A workshop, led by Rev. Ron Hooker from Columbus, Ohio, reviewing Henri Nouwen’s classic work: “The Wounded Healer” will be 10 a.m.-noon at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 6608 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach.

Play Scrabble

Join the Anna Maria Island Community Center 12:30- 3 p.m. Wednesdays for Scrabble. Bring your own game and a kitchen timer. Cost: $5 members, $8 nonmembers. Information: 778-1908.

Mason, Mich., reunion

Western New York reunion

The Western New York Reunion will be at 11 a.m. at the Tropic Isle Park Auditorium, 3100 10th St. W., Palmetto. Bring a main dish to share that will serve eight and your own table service.
