Inlets residents adopt a family for Christmas

Every year the Inlets at Riverdale adopt a Christmas family with the help of a local elementary school principal.

This effort has been spearheaded and organized by Dottie and Paul Wiencek, but this year their effort was expanded thanks to the creative energy of Peggy Paxton.

She organized several Inlets ladies for a “white elephant” silent auction as a FUNdraiser for the Christmas family. The event was hosted by Jackie Woolf on Nov. 19, and an additional $261 was raised to purchase food and gifts for the adopted family.

One of the most unique gifts that was donated for the silent auction was offered by Nancy Crum. It was her husband, Tom! After furious bidding, Ann Lee “bought” him and “used and abused” Tom for the agreed-upon two-hour time period.

The value? “Priceless,” Ann said.
