Manatee County government’s fleet services, a division of the county’s Public Works Department, recently received national recognition by placing 11th in the “100 Best Fleets in North America” competition. The program, sponsored by Government Fleet Magazine and a number of other organizations, recognizes and rewards the most outstanding among 38,000 fleet operations across the continent. As a special “thank you” for a having received this prestigious award, the staff of fleet services was treated by Manatee County officials to a luncheon in their honor on Nov. 25. Among the speakers at the luncheon were several county commissioners, County Administrator Ed Hunzeker, above, and Mike Brennan, division manager of fleet services, who opened the program with an overview that explained the fleet’s operations to the dignitaries in attendance.
