Back in September, Sam Woolf, the "American Idol" finalist who hails from Bradenton, was supposed to play a welcome-home concert at IMG Academy Stadium.
Mother Nature had plans to the contrary, however, and the outdoor show was canceled because of rain.
Woolf, who now lives in Nashville, Tenn., is not one to let his fans down. So he's back in town this weekend for a make-up concert. The weather should be beautiful, but that won't really matter because this time the concert's inside. It's scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday at the Bradenton Area Convention Center.
Proceeds will support the new Sam Woolf Music Scholarship Fund, which was established by the Del Couch Music Foundation. Sam was a Del Couch student before he hit the big time with his fifth-place finish on "American Idol" earlier this year.
The fund will raise money for college scholarships for young area musicians.
Students from the Del Couch Music Foundation will open the show.
Couch said that at Sunday's concert he will announce details of a "Bradenton Area Idol" talent competition. The competition will take place over three months at the Bradenton Area Convention Center. Aspiring musicians will compete for scholarships and a recording and performance deal.
If you have tickets for that rained-out concert at IMG, you can use them to get into this weekend's show.
