Ronnie Brown’s season has ended with an injury again.

The Miami Dolphins’ leading rusher was placed on injured reserve Wednesday because of a right foot injury suffered in Sunday’s victory over Tampa Bay.

A fifth-year pro, Brown missed the final nine games of the 2007 season with a right knee injury.

The Dolphins had hoped Brown might be able to return this year but made the roster move after he was examined by a specialist. It’s a big blow for a team that ranks fourth in the NFL in rushing and 30th in passing.

n Miami tight end Anthony Fasano has been ruled out of tonight’s game at Charlotte because of a hip injury.

STEELERS — Safety Troy Polamalu wore a heavy brace on his reinjured left knee while watching practice Wednesday and did not take part in any drills.

Polamalu limped off the field about 30 minutes before practice ended and did not answer questions. He is all but certain to miss Sunday’s game at Kansas City, and he might not be ready for Baltimore on Nov. 29.

CARDINALS — Arizona defensive tackle Darnell Dockett says he has talked to Seattle’s Matt Hasselbeck and “everything’s cool” between him and the Seahawks quarterback.

Dockett says he was disappointed that Seattle coach Jim Mora called it a dirty play when the big lineman’s forearm was thrust into Hasselbeck’s throat while the quarterback was lying down. Dockett says it was an accident.

VIKINGS — Minnesota cornerback Antoine Winfield has given himself an “85 percent” chance of returning to play this week.

BILLS — Starting left tackle Demetrius Bell is out indefinitely with a right knee injury. That opens the possibility for rookie guard Andy Levitre starting in his place against Jacksonville this weekend.

RAVENS — Baltimore signed former Dallas Cowboys kicker Billy Cundiff. Cundiff replaces Steve Hauschka, who was cut Tuesday after missing several important field goal tries — including a potential game-winner in Minnesota last month.

n Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs will miss Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts because of a knee injury.

REDSKINS — Clinton Portis is again “very doubtful” for Washington as he continues to recover from a concussion.

JETS — New York safety Jim Leonhard had three pins inserted into his broken right thumb and his arm is in a sling, leaving his status for the team’s game against New England uncertain.

BROWNS — Cleveland quarterback Brady Quinn has been fined by the NFL for his low hit on Baltimore’s Terrell Suggs.

PANTHERS — Carolina linebacker Thomas Davis hopes to remain with the Panthers next season, regardless of the rules surrounding his upcoming free agency.

n Carolina running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart are questionable for today’s game against Miami with lingering injuries.

EAGLES — Doctors say Philadelphia running back Brian Westbrook has improved significantly over the past three days following a second concussion in a three-week span.

SAINTS — New Orleans signed veteran cornerback Chris McAlister.

PACKERS — Green Bay released wide receiver Jake Allen.

JAGUARS — Former Jacksonville receiver Jimmy Smith was sentenced to 18 months of probation after pleading guilty to drug possession charges.
