Boldin sits out, could miss Giants game

Arizona wide receiver Anquan Boldin remains uncertain for Sunday night’s game against the New York Giants after sitting out the Cardinals’ practice on Wednesday.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt says that Boldin is farther ahead in his rehabilitation than he thought he would be but added that with ankle injuries “you never know.” Whisenhunt says he will just have to see how Boldin progresses during the week.

BILLS — Bills quarterback Trent Edwards missed practice days after sustaining a concussion, making backup Ryan Fitzpatrick the likely starter at Carolina this weekend.

n Bills receiver James Hardy is back at practice for the first time since tearing a ligament in his left knee last December.

CARDINALS — Arizona signed linebacker Brandon Renkart to the practice squad and released linebacker Lee Robinson from the practice squad.

BEARS — Chicago strongside linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa needs season-ending surgery to repair ligament damage in his right knee.

SEAHAWKS — Seattle signed guard Mike Gibson onto their active roster off Philadelphia’s practice squad as it continues to shuffle its battered offensive line.

PANTHERS — Carolina signed safety Keith Lewis and placed cornerback Dante Wesley on the reserve-suspended list.

JETS — New York wide receivers Jerricho Cotchery and Brad Smith returned to the practice field, while Braylon Edwards was limited but not expected to miss any time.

BROWNS — Cleveland signed free agent tight end Michael Gaines.

n Linebacker D’Qwell Jackson has undergone surgery in New York to repair his injured shoulder.

n Browns return specialist and part-time quarterback Josh Cribbs missed practice with an unspecified knee injury.

DOLPHINS — Miami linebacker Matt Roth practiced for the first time this season, and he might play Sunday against unbeaten New Orleans.
