GOLF NOTES: Four-ball event

The 60th Florida State Golf Association Four-Ball Tournament is Saturday and Sunday at The Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club.

The 52 two-player teams will compete over 36 holes, with the event open to the public from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. each day.

CHARITY TOURNEY

IMG Academies Golf & Country Club will host a shotgun event at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 2 to support the Anna Maria Island Community Center.

The cost is $175 per golfer or $600 per four-person team, which includes golf, carts and dinner, scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

PATRIOT GOLF DAY

Rosedale Golf and Country Club will host a Patriot Day Golf Tournament on Aug. 22. The shotgun start will be at 8:30 a.m., and the cost is $50 per golfer.

The format is a four-person scramble with three divisions — men, women and mixed. The event is limited to the first 120 players to sign up.

ACE’S LOUNGE EVENT

Ace’s Lounge will host its first golf outing Saturday at Pinebrook/Ironwood Golf Course. Sign-up sheets for the four-man scramble can be found at Ace’s, or you can call (941) 795-3886.

The event has an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, and the cost is $35 for players, or $25 to sponsor a hole.

Lunch and prizes will be at Ace’s after the event.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP

By making a donation to the LECOM Bradenton Student Scholarship Fund, you can earn a membership to University Park Country Club.

The donation covers the initiation fee of a full membership, which includes use of all golf, tennis, fitness, croquet, dining and social facilities.

n On June 20 at Lakewood Ranch, Jeff Nutson aced the 133-yard fourth hole with a 9-iron. Witnesses were Bill Gardner and Ned Richardson.

n On June 21 at Buffalo Creek, Rick Buskill aced the 154-yard fourth hole with an 8-iron. Witnesses were Donald Apelion, Robert Apelion and Joe Gavin.

n On June 23 at Rosedale, Mike Zinn aced the 157-yard 13th hole. Witnesses were Johnny Greenscade and Skip Suereth.

n On June 25 at Waterlefe, Jeff Noftsger aced the 231-yard ninth hole with a 3-iron. Witness was Larry Bunnell.

n On June 27 at Bradenton Country Club, Rick Pearce aced the 180-yard sixth hole with a 5-iron. Witnesses were Terry Alford, Chuck Brown and Billy Spokes.

n On July 3 at University Park, Gary Kleiman aced the 182-yard 24th hole with a 3-iron. Witness was John Bondur.

n On July 6 at Heather Hills, Jack Breitung aced the 116-yard 13th hole with an 8-iron. Witnesses were Max Simmons and Joe Accetura.
