Southeast High standout defensive back Jonathan Dowling has been nominated as an Old Spice Red Zone Player of the Year.
Dowling, a 6-foot-4, 172-pound interception machine, set a school record with 14 interceptions — eight in the month of November — and helped the Seminoles return to the Class 4A state playoffs where they fell to eventual 4A state champion Tampa Plant in the regional semifinals.
If Dowling is selected, he’ll be featured in a full-page story in the USA Today next month.
The junior is also eligible to be selected as one of the top 50 players in the nation.
West Virginia, South Florida and the University of Florida are among the many schools recruiting Dowling.
