Twin sisters JoJo and Gabby Coulter will continue their volleyball career as teammates beyond Manatee High.
The rising juniors, who helped the Hurricanes win the 2014 Class 8A championship, verbally committed to Marshall on Friday with more than two years separating them from their future college careers.
JoJo, an outside hitter, and Gabby, a setter, were both first-team All-Area selections in each of their first two seasons with the Canes while helping Manatee reach the 8A semifinals during both seasons.
JoJo was the Hurricanes’ second-most productive hitter, finishing only behind older sister Haley Coulter with 197 kills. Gabby missed a full month during her sophomore season and still led the Canes with 428 assists.
All three Coulter sisters have excelled in part thanks to their versatility during their time as teammates in Bradenton.
JoJo was one of three Manatee players to record at least 100 digs and led the team at 42 aces at a 93.4 serving percentage. Gabby converted 26 kills at a 72.2-percent rate while also blocking 16 shots from the setter position.
JoJo will become Manatee’s top outside hitter as a senior following her older sister’s graduation — Haley was the All-Area Player of the Year the past two seasons and is playing at Tulsa in the fall — and Gabby will be the team’s starting setter for the third straight year.
