An early tally did not stand up for the Marauders (26-30) on Saturday night at Roger Dean Stadium. In the eighth, Sampson retired the first batter on a grounder to third. Charlie Tilson lined a pitch into the glove of Sampson, but the ball squirted loose for an infield single. David Popkins and Jacob Wilson followed with consecutive doubles for a 2-1 lead. The Marauders scored their run in the first on an erratic play by Palm Beach. Gift Ngoepe led off the game with a walk against Sam Gaviglio. Benji Gonzalez put down a sacrifice bunt to third, which was thrown away into right field by Patrick Wisdom. Popkins booted the ball in right for a second error on the play, allowing the run to score. Corey Baker (W, 2-2) pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win. Dean Kiekhefer, who won Friday’s game with two scoreless innings, pitched a scoreless ninth Saturday to earn his seventh save.
