The Marauders (18-26) exploded for four runs in the fourth inning to grab an 8-5 win over the Stone Crabs (25-19) Saturday night at Charlotte Sports Park. Willy Garcia hit his 15th home run of the season to put the Marauders in top for good in the fifth inning. Bradenton opened the scoring in the second inning. Dan Gamache led off with a triple off Grayson Garvin. Jose Osuna cashed in the run with a groundout. Bradenton added another run in the inning on an RBI-single from Junior Sosa. Joely Rodriguez (W, 3-3) had a rough third inning, surrendering three runs and the lead. Charlotte led 3-2 after three. Rodriguez made it through five innings, striking out four and did not walk a batter. The Marauders rallied in the top of the fifth against Andrew Bellati. Gift Ngoepe scored Taylor Lewis with a two-out double. After Stetson Allie walked, Garcia uncorked his bomb on an 0-2 pitch to take a 6-3 lead. Charlotte drew within one in the seventh on a two run double off the wall in right by Jeff Malm off Zac Fuesser. Charlotte couldn’t complete the comeback. Joan Montero pitched a scoreless eighth. After Osuna drove in two insurance runs in the top of the ninth, Emmanuel De Leon struck out the side for his fourth save. Game two of the series is Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Zack Dodson will start for the Marauders. Dodson last pitched on Tuesday in a spot start for double-A Altoona in a doubleheader against Binghamton. He pitched four innings and took the loss.
