BRADENTON – The Marauders (9-20) used one big inning to earn a 5-2 win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers (11-13) on Sunday at McKechnie Field. All three Bradenton hits and all five runs were registered during the fourth inning. Lakeland starter Kevin Eichhorn (L, 1-4) surrendered his first hit to Dan Gamache leading off the fourth inning. Stetson Allie struck out, but Willy Garcia followed with a single to put runners at first and second. Eichhorn was able to force out Gamache at the plate on a slow roller off the bat of Benji Gonzalez, but followed with a walk to Taylor Lewis to give Bradenton a 1-0 lead. Matt Davenport relieved Eichhorn, walked D.J. Crumlich to force in another run, then surrendered a three-run triple to Alen Hanson. Joely Rodriguez (W, 1-3) was brilliant on the mound to earn his first win. The lefty yielded just four hits and one walk over six scoreless innings. He struck out six Flying Tigers. Robbie Kilcrease pitched the final three innings to earn his fifth save. He allowed one run in the seventh and one in the ninth. Allie finished 0-for-3, snapping his six game hitting streak. Bradenton and Lakeland play on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Zack Dodson will start on the mound for the Marauders.
