KISSIMMEE -- Manatee County advanced 10 of its 13 entries after the first round of the 2015 Florida High School Wrestling State Championships at the Silver Spurs Arena early Friday.
Manatee High advanced four, and Lakewood Ranch and Palmetto sent both of their wrestlers into the second round. Southeast advanced two of its three entries.
Manatee’s heralded Jesse Fulk won 6-0 in the 182-pound class, and Caleb Rudisill (126) was the only Hurricane to register a first-round pin (3:26).
The other winners for the Canes were Marshall Craig (106) with a 3-1 decision and Tim Dinsdale (152), who won 12-1.

For Manatee Matt McAleer (145) and Charles Small (132) lost by decision.
Lakewood Ranch’s Hunter Reed took a 14-2 decision at 113 pounds, and Dylan Cameron won his 126-pound match 9-1.
Palmetto’s Chase Washington had the quickest match among the locals, registering a pin in 29 seconds to win his 138-pound match, and Leonel Barbosa won 7-1 at 152 pounds.
Southeast’s Ricky Almodovar (160) won 8-1, and Darrien Grant registered a pin (3:33) in his 195-pound match. The Seminoles' Stephen Kelle lost in his 170-pound match.
