BRADENTON -- The final piece of Saint Stephen's sports complex was unveiled Friday prior to the Falcons' spring football jamboree.
Head of School Jan Pullen cut a ribbon to mark the opening of the Falcon Field House at the Moore Athletic Complex at Turner Fields, the final phase to the $5 million project.
Equipped with three locker rooms, showers, a laundry room and a weight room, the fieldhouse gives off a college vibe.
"Whether it's collegiate or next level or whatever, we want to do everything we do in a first-class manner," Saint Stephen's football head coach Tod Creneti said. "That facility allows us to do that so easily."
Upon entering the fieldhouse, there's a training room to assess injuries.
The girls locker room area is to the left with 114 lockers lined up next to each other as well as bathrooms and showers.
To the right is two more locker room areas. The main boys lockers, which are 50 full sized ones, are in the room just before the weight room.
"It'll be really seasonal,"
Falcons athletic director Carlos Boothby said. "So fall, it'll be football. Winter, soccer. Spring, lacrosse and track. ... So we use it for all of the sports that are out here."
There are 104 smaller lockers. There also are showers attached to the boys locker rooms.
"We've been dressing in the P.E. locker room in the gym as long as I've been around, as long as football has been here," Creneti said. "Having that space in the fieldhouse, it makes us feel that much more at home. It's that last piece of the puzzle that really allows us to move in here fully."
